Wouldn’t it be great to connect ChatGPT (or most of the other major LLM/chatbot tools, such as Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity) to GA4 so that you can chat with your data and easily extract insights to grow your business?
I’ve been searching for an easy and painless way to do this for the past couple of years.
The wait is over.
That’s where Windsor AI comes in.

Windsor AI lets you connect your marketing data sources, like GA4, Google Search Console, Google Ads, Meta Ads, Shopify, YouTube, and more, and then use ChatGPT to ask questions about that data, as well as run reports and provide expert-level analysis.
Instead of manually exporting reports and building spreadsheets, it’s time to step into the AI data revolution.
Prefer watching? Check out our YouTube video, which breaks down how to connect GA4, Google Search Console, and YouTube to Codex and ChatGPT by using Windsor. It’s like this post, but on data-driven steroids. You’ll either love it or be bored to death.
What You Need Before Beginning the Connection
Before connecting GA4 to ChatGPT (or Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.), you need:
- A Windsor AI account
- A ChatGPT account
- Access to the data source you want to connect (i.e. GA4, Google Search Console, etc.)
- Permission to connect that source inside Windsor AI
- A passion for data (not really, though)
For example, make sure you have access to the correct GA4 property. If you want to analyze Google Ads, make sure your Google account has access to the ad account.
It’s basic stuff, but still worth checking before you start screaming.
Step 1: Sign Up for Windsor AI
First, go to Windsor AI and sign up for an account. It takes one minute.
If you don’t have Windsor AI yet, I’ve got you covered.
There is a 30-day free trial to take advantage of now. By the way, this is an affiliate link, which means I may earn a commission if you decide to purchase, at no additional cost to you. I liked Windsor so much that I partnered with them. High five.
There are other platforms that accomplish a similar type of thing, such as Supermetrics, but they are generally more expensive and complicated.
Step 2: Connect Your Data Source in Windsor AI
First, log into Windsor AI.
Then choose the data source you want to connect. For most website owners, I would start with Google Analytics 4 as an essential connection.

Select GA4 inside Windsor, sign in with the Google account that has access, approve the connection, and choose the property you want to analyze. It’s very simple.
You can also connect other platforms, like Google Search Console, Google Ads, Meta Ads, Shopify, YouTube, and hundreds of others.
If you have multiple websites or brands, you can connect multiple data sources, too. That makes it easier to compare performance without opening 14 tabs and pretending that’s “strategy.”
Step 3: Add Windsor AI to ChatGPT
Next, open ChatGPT and add the Windsor.ai app.
Connect it to your Windsor AI account and approve access.

Once connected, ChatGPT should be able to see the data sources you added inside Windsor.
To test it, use this prompt:
Prompt:
“List the data sources connected to my Windsor account.”
If the connection worked, ChatGPT should show the available sources, such as GA4, Google Search Console, Google Ads, or whatever else you connected. In this case, it’s just GA4.
Step 4 (Optional, but Important): Add a Dedicated ChatGPT Project
If you’re anything like me, you love convenience, and you want things to be fast.
That’s why you need to create a new ChatGPT project just for your data.

Go to ChatGPT → Projects → New Project → Project Settings → Instructions.
Enter something like this:
“You are a world-class marketing analyst for [Your Company]. You will always use the Windsor.AI plugin for your analysis, using the GA4, [Data Source #2 (optional)], and [Data Source #3 (optional)]. Use whichever one you need to reference. You will produce easy-to-understand, direct, actionable reports, advice, information, graphs, and charts, and whatever I ask you for.”
List as many data sources in the prompt as you have. One is fine, and so is ten.
Now, whenever you want a new visualization of your data, have a quick question, or want a deep analysis, you simply go to this Project, start a new chat, and ChatGPT automatically knows exactly what you’re referring to at all times. Nice.
Helpful Prompts to Try with Your GA4 to ChatGPT Connection
Once Windsor AI is connected to ChatGPT, you can start asking real questions.
Pretend like it’s a real employee, minus the bad smells, salary, spilled coffee, and bathroom breaks.
Here are a few useful prompts:
Prompt:
Using my GA4 data from the last 30 days, show my top 10 landing pages by sessions. Include engagement rate, conversions, and conversion rate.
Prompt:
Compare my traffic sources from the last 30 days versus the previous 30 days. Show which sources are up, down, or flat.
Prompt:
Find pages with high traffic but low engagement. Tell me which ones I should improve first.
Prompt:
Using GA4, find pages that get search traffic but have weak engagement after people land on the site.
That last one is especially useful because it connects the SEO side with the on-site behavior side.
Also, don’t be afraid to combine sources. If you connected other platforms other than GA4 to Windsor., you can go crazy and ask ChatGPT to pull and analyze data across multiple sources that work together. For example, you might want to see search term opportunities from Google Search Console along with top landing page data from GA4. That’s where things get crazy useful.
Quick Tips to Get the Most Out of Connecting ChatGPT to GA4 with Windsor AI
Here are some tips to get the most out of your new connection:
- Always include a date range in your prompt, unless you want ChatGPT to make an educated guess. Sometimes that works, but it usually doesn’t.
- Telling ChatGPT which data source you want to use is helpful, although it sometimes doesn’t matter. If you say, “How many people visited my website yesterday?” it will still be smart enough to understand that you mean GA4.
- Ask follow-up questions to your heart’s content. No awkward rebuttals from a real analyst.
- And do not blindly trust every answer. ChatGPT can analyze the data and produce great reports, but you should still sanity-check the output before making important business decisions.
- This setup is powerful, but it is not magic. A bad tracking setup still creates bad answers. Garbage in, garbage out, but now with better formatting and a better attitude.
