I’ve been using Tella.tv for over a year now, and at this point, I’ve put it through the wringer. Dozens of experiments, plenty of trial and error, and more than a few “why did I do it this way?” moments along the way.

After all that, I finally landed on a Tella video creation process that just works. It’s fast. It’s efficient. And most importantly, it doesn’t feel like a chore every time I need to record a video.

I’ve made over 50 Run The Prompts YouTube videos with the help of Tella, and it’s the reason I can crank out content without overthinking every step. At the end of the article, I’ll also share a bunch of Tella.TV pro tips that didn’t quite fit into the main flow but are absolutely worth knowing.

Yes, Tella is an easy platform to use. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t an “okay” and “great” way to use it. I’m showing you what’s great. Isn’t that great?

By the way, if you’ve never used Tella yet, check out our full Tella.TV review to see if Tella is right for you. Essentially, it’s a fast, user-friendly video screen recorder tool that has several awesome AI features that speed up the video creation process significantly.

Let’s have a video creation party.

Here’s the process. Some parts are optional. Some of it will depend on what kind of content you’re making. But overall, this setup has been the most reliable and repeatable workflow for me.

Essentially, you will create and edit three separate videos in Tella, implement the edits I recommend in Tella, then export all three and assemble them in CapCut. Use CapCut to add simple effects like transitions, titles, etc., or whatever you want.

1) Record the 3 Videos

Record these as three separate videos, and make sure each one contains only one clip:

  • Intro (1 clip)
  • Middle/Main Content (1 clip)
  • Outro (1 clip)

2) Edit Video 1: Intro (in Tella)

A) Open + Setup

  • Open the intro video in Tella
  • Rename it at the top-left.
  • Click Edit Faster
  • Change animation: Moderate → Snappy (or whatever setting you’d like)

B) Cleanup

  • If you think there might be a verbal mistake in your video, go to “Cut” then —> Find Mistakes
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Buffers
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Silences
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Filler Words

C) Layout

  • Go to Layout
  • Select Camera Full

D) Export

  • Download the intro video

3) Edit Video 2: Middle/Main Content (in Tella)

A) Open + Setup

  • Open the middle video in Tella
  • Rename it at the top-left.
  • Click Edit Faster
  • Change animation: Moderate → Snappy (or whatever setting you’d like)

B) Cleanup

  • If you think there might be a verbal mistake in your video, go to “Cut” then —> Find Mistakes
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Buffers
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Silences
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Filler Words

C) Adjust (Crop)

  • Go to Adjust
  • Crop the screen as needed
  • Apply the crop

D) Add Background Music

  • Go to Audio
  • Select Background Music
  • Click Add

E) Layout

  • Go to Layout
  • Select your Main Layout

F) Play + Edit While Watching

Play the video and make edits as you go:

  • Cut tab: cut sections as needed
  • Zoom tab: add small zooms where needed
  • Layout tab: add layout changes where needed

G) Export

  • Download the middle video

4) Edit Video 3: Outro (in Tella)

A) Open + Setup

  • Open the outro video in Tella
  • Rename it at the top-left.
  • Click Edit Faster
  • Change animation: Moderate → Snappy (or whatever setting you’d like)

B) Cleanup

  • If you think there might be a verbal mistake in your video, go to “Cut” then —> Find Mistakes
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Buffers
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Silences
  • When in “Cut”, go to —> Remove Filler Words

C) Layout

  • Go to Layout
  • Select Camera Full

D) Export

  • Download the outro video

5) Assemble in CapCut

  • Import all 3 exported videos into CapCut
  • Arrange in order:
    • Intro

Nine Tella.TV Pro Tips – Don’t Skip These

  1. One clip per video. Multiple clips force you to run through every video editing process for every clip, which wastes time fast when you could just do it once. It also makes dumping everything into CapCut easier for transitions and background music on just one clip.
  2. Trash bad takes immediately. If a clip isn’t going well or you completely bomb it, kill it mid-recording. Click the trash icon, and it’s gone forever. No fixing. No overthinking.
  3. 4K record, 1080p export. I record in high quality (4K) and export from CapCut in 1080p. You still get a sharp image without bloated file sizes.
  4. Playback speed adjustment. I didn’t ride the short bus or anything, but I’m a slow speaker, so I export from Tella at 1.1 or sometimes 1.2 speed. The pacing feels better, and people stick around longer.
  5. Auto layouts are risky. The feature is still in beta and very hit or miss. It can generate layouts you don’t want and way too many of them. I suggested a favorites-only checkbox for this feature to the Tella team. Until that exists, I avoid auto layouts because cleanup takes longer than doing it manually.
  6. Favorite layouts only. Star the layouts you actually like. Every layout I use is favorited. I keep five total and rotate between those instead of scrolling endlessly through the rest of the layouts.
  7. Try the Punch-in feature. This works great for video intros. One click gives you that familiar punch-in (quick zoom) effect you see all over YouTube and short-form content.
  8. Auto Zoom testing. The Auto Zoom feature can work, but it doesn’t always fit my content. Sometimes it’s a solid starting point, and I tweak from there. Other times it’s easier to skip it. I expect this to improve over time.
  9. Use Google Chrome. This is the big one. Do not use Firefox. Tella runs way better in Chrome. There’s even a pop-up telling you this, which I ignored for a year. Learn from my mistake. Use Google f’ing Chrome.

Wrapping It Up

This isn’t the only way to use Tella.tv. It’s just what’s worked best for me after more than a year of use and over 50 Run The Prompts YouTube videos.

You don’t need to follow every step exactly. Take what helps, skip what doesn’t, and adjust based on your content. The real goal is speed, consistency, and not dreading the record button.

If this helped you clean up your Tella workflow, great. And if you have your own tips or shortcuts, drop them in the comments. I’m always interested in how others are using it. No, really, I promise!

Until next time, remember to run the prompts and prompt the planet.
