Venice AI vs. ChatGPT: That’s the question on everyone’s minds these days. I don’t blame them. It’s quite the decision. Here at Run The Prompts, we thoroughly love both tools. The good news? I’m here to help you make up your mind.
Which one is the best fit for you? Picture it like choosing between two cars: one is more rebellious, the other more polished and new. Both can get you where you’re going, but the ride feels different. Kind of like… well, never mind.
I’ll go ahead and assume that you already know what Venice and ChatGPT are. So, I’m not even going to include those chapters – something that no other site would dare do. With that said, to learn more about Venice.AI, check out our full Venice review. For the full lowdown on ChatGPT, visit our ChatGPT resources page, which is packed with tutorials, information, and more.
Advantages of Venice.AI
Venice.AI is like hanging out with that friend who says exactly what’s on their mind. No filter. No tiptoeing around topics. And everything said is off-the-record. Unrecorded. Sealed. Nobody will ever know what you said.
It’s all about privacy-first design. Think of it as an affordable club membership instead of paying for an expensive gym.
With Venice, you get all kinds of unique goodies:
• Unfiltered chats: No heinous content filtering.
• Privacy focus: Your data doesn’t feel like it’s under a spotlight. Your chats are only stored in your local browser until you delete them.
• Low price: With the RTP exclusive 20% discount with promo code “RUN20,” it’s about the cost of a fancy latte every month. The biggest difference is Venice won’t give you diarrhea or love handles.
• Ability to combine multiple system prompts
• Arguably better image generation than ChatGPT with the FLUX image model (and others)
• Create and chat with Characters, which is similar to Character.AI.
Advantages of ChatGPT
On the other side of the battle ring, ChatGPT feels more like the corporate pro—high-powered and full of various features. Although tools like Claude, Meta, Google Gemini, and others have been nipping at their heels, ChatGPT is currently considered the king of AI.
The mighty ChatGPT gives you:
• A full AI toolkit: Everything from the incredible Data Analyst feature to Advanced Voice Mode, Canvas, Sora, and more.
• Constant updates: They keep sharpening the edges.
• Convenient integrations: Supports multiple file types, has dedicated apps for all major operating systems, and more.
• The best-performing AI models, such as o1 and o1-mini
• Share and create GPTs, which are custom chatbots
Disadvantages of Venice.AI
Sure, Venice.AI isn’t perfect (like me). It doesn’t have a million features—just a handful of core ones. They clearly went for the 80/20 strategy here by providing people with the 20% of AI features that people use 80% of the time to keep costs down. Additionally, it lacks a dedicated mobile app, although you can create an app with some cool hacks. It also can’t work with various file types other than .TXT and .PDF, and you can’t create GPTs (but you can create Characters and System Prompts, which are similar).
Disadvantages of ChatGPT
ChatGPT is much more expensive than Venice, and its filters can be obnoxiously strict in the wokest way possible. It’s also not private, and the image generation is not as good as Venice.AI, which is kind of amazing, given the sheer company size of OpenAI vs. Venice.
Pricing Comparison: Which AI Tool Causes More Damage to Your Wallet?
When it comes to pricing, there is no comparison. Venice.AI offers a free plan and a paid plan, with Venice Pro costing $39.20/year, which is just $3.27/month with the promo code RUN20. This makes it over 6X cheaper than ChatGPT Plus.
ChatGPT, on the other hand, offers a free plan, ChatGPT Plus for $20/month (see if it’s worth it), and ChatGPT Pro for $200/month. No, that was not a typo. ChatGPT Pro really is $200/month. However, 99% of the population does not need it. It’s tailored specifically to absolute power users, obnoxiously overzealous content creators, researchers, and giant corporations.
For the most up-to-date pricing (in case it has changed since publishing this), check the official ChatGPT pricing and Venice pricing page.
The Verdict: ChatGPT vs. Venice AI – Which is Better?
I subscribe to both. However, keep in mind that I have a website to run (kind of!) and an AI therapist to see with Venice. I don’t just run the prompts. I run the prompts harder than anyone I know.
A lot of it comes down to use cases and preferences. Do you have a demanding job or side hustle that requires data analysis, writing a ton of content, and pinging an AI all day long, especially with complicated tasks? Go with ChatGPT Plus.
Are you a casual AI user who’s annoyed with ChatGPT’s woke filters and worrisome data privacy/security policies? Go with Venice.AI.
And if you’re broke, definitely go with Venice. You get a LOT of cool tech for the price.
Which tool do you like better and why? Let us know in the comments section below. It’s getting lonely. Don’t let it sit there all sad and stuff.
