Use ChatGPT Like This to Make Traveling Feel Effortless (7 Methods)

You can technically use Google to do a lot of what I’m about to show you. Translate text. Find flights. Look up local customs. But it’s not fun. You have to dig through forums, skip over ads, and click through five “Top 10 Tips for Tourists” blog posts written by someone who’s never actually left their mother’s basement (don’t worry, I have).

ChatGPT, on the other hand, just does it. It gives you answers that are direct, customized, and based on your specific situation. No filler, guesswork, or BS.

If you’ve ever traveled abroad, you know the drill. You step off the plane, the signs are in another language, your SIM card doesn’t work, and suddenly you’re standing in the airport bathroom wondering what the word “Salida” means. Exit. Just leave.

Over the last year and a half, that was me in Thailand. Then again in the Philippines, and also in Mexico.

I realized something quickly: ChatGPT makes travel (especially international travel) much easier than it ever has been before.

Welcome to robot-assisted travel, where even the dumbest, most useless people in the world can now travel without getting deported, endlessly embarrassed, or lost. All they have to do is follow my lead and run the prompts.

Let’s party.

1. ChatGPT is Free Travel Planning on Steroids

ChatGPT can be the best travel agent you’ve never used.

If you’re juggling multiple flights, Airbnbs, and hotels, it can map it all out for you. The more complicated your trip, the more ChatGPT can come to the rescue and save you from frustration and misery.

Watch our highly rated YouTube video below on how to do this. It includes the exact method and prompts.

2. Find Cheap Flights with ChatGPT

Here’s the part that can save you real money so you’ll have spare cash to spend on the things that matter in life instead of forfeiting it over to airline companies that want to nickel and dime you into poverty.

ChatGPT can search for cheap flights, compare routes, suggest layover routes, find airline promo codes, and more. You can ask it to look for deals by date, destination, and even nearby airports you might not have thought of.

Learn how to use ChatGPT to get cheap flights to get started now.

Combine those tricks with a few AI travel planning prompts, and you’re basically flying business class on an economy budget.

3. Translation That Works Better Than Google Translate

I know, this one seems obvious… but just stick with me.

We all know Google Translate exists. However, if you have any foreign friends, you know their feedback is always the same: it makes a bunch of mistakes and doesn’t translate conversations or texts very well. It’s just good enough to get by. But you don’t just get by. You run the prompts.

When I was in Mexico, I built a simple ChatGPT Project that acted as a personal Spanish translator. I could copy-paste entire messages from locals or Airbnb hosts, and it translated them perfectly. Then I’d paste my English reply, and it would write the Spanish version for me. The feedback from locals was consistently good.

Want to make one for yourself? It’s easy. Create a new Project in ChatGPT. Then paste this into the custom instructions (below). Change Spanish and/or English to whatever languages you want.

Here’s an example of a conversational translation as a result of that prompt/instruction.

Bonus tip: If you have a strong internet connection, turn on Voice Mode with this Project and just start talking.

4. AI Foreign Language Tutoring That’s Actually Fun

Before and/or during your trip, it’s a good idea to learn some of the language for the place you’re visiting. AI tutoring to the rescue.

Impress all your new foreign friends with new words in a new language. When you tell them ChatGPT taught you, they will laugh and think you’re kidding.

Watch the YouTube Short video below that we made to learn exactly how to do it.

5. Reading and Decoding Foreign Signs, Statues, Menus, Etc.

When I was in Mexico City, I used it in a museum, as well as a castle. I’d take a photo of a monument or statue that had text in Spanish, upload it, and ask ChatGPT. Check it out.

Two sentences later, I knew exactly what I was looking at. No overpriced tour guide or guessing needed.

You can do this with menus, hotel instructions, signs, whatever. Get creative. Here’s an example of me needing to understand what this Mexican cereal tasted like before I decided to buy it. It was delicious by the way. Don’t judge me.

6. The Foreign Currency Hack with ChatGPT

Ever been handed a handful of foreign coins and realized you had no clue if you were rich or broke?

Well, you’re probably still broke, but I bet you wondered how broke you were.

When I was in Thailand, I was a guy with a handful of funny coins. I took a photo of the Thai Baht coins and asked ChatGPT what I was looking at.  Check it out.

It instantly told me the total value, explained which coin was which, and even gave a little conversion to USD. It was like having a pocket Asian.

7. Bonus: Cultural Assistant

Ask it anything. How to greet someone respectfully. Whether tipping is expected. Whether Utah has live music. What the local laws are for drones or photography?

Instead of scrolling through ten dumb Reddit posts, ChatGPT gives you the current answer fast.

As always, though, be sure to fact-check mission-critical facts.
