I tried this a few months ago, before ChatGPT o3, and it resulted in a face-palm. Broken links, wrong information… it was a mess. The model kept pitching locations that didn’t exist anymore, didn’t fit the criteria, or likely needed a health inspection.
O3 is a different beast. It can juggle all its built-in tools: Code Interpreter, web search, image generation, canvas, and image analysis. That means it can actually cross-check business hours, read reviews, ensure it’s in the correct geolocation, and more. Basically, it goes out onto the internet and does the dirty, crappy work for you. It may be your first taste of agents.
The Date-Finder Prompt for ChatGPT o3
Copy, paste, and fill in the blanks. Edit it if you’d like. It’s flexible. But I found this prompt to work really well. Run this prompt using ChatGPT’s o3 or o3-mini model.
Keep in mind: although this works amazingly well, it’s still not perfect because AI is still not perfect. But it’s damn good.
Copy/Paste Into ChatGPT
Find [number of options you’d like] good places for a date using the following criteria:
Geo Location: Somewhere in between [crossroads of your location, including your city and state] and [crossroads of your date’s location, including the city and state]
Price/Quality: [describe how much you’re willing to pay for the date]
Noise Level: [quiet/somewhat loud/loud/bustling]
Reservations Required: [Yes/No]
Business Hours: Must be open until [the time you’d like it to be open until] on [day of the date]
Other Features: [games, board games, pool table, ping pong table, arcade machine(s)—just add whatever you’re looking for]
Print your recommendation in a table, using all of those points as columns.

The same general template can double as:
- Friend outings: Escape rooms, axe-throwing, bowling alleys, etc.
- Family adventures: Kid-friendly museums that serve espresso, restaurants with kid menus, etc.
- Vacation days: Swap crossroads for “within ten miles of my AirBnB in Lisbon.” Let the model source those treasures for you.
Basically, if it has an address and opening hours, the bot can scout it.
