Creating slide deck presentations in PowerPoint or Google Slides is about as enjoyable as waiting in line at the DMV with a hangover. If you like making them, you might need professional help. For the rest of us, creating slides is typically tedious and time-consuming. But here’s some good news: AI and ChatGPT can transform this task into something fast, simple, and surprisingly enjoyable.
Best part? Everything I’m about to share can be done 100% free. No subscriptions, no expensive software needed. Sure, the premium AI models might have a price tag, and will generally work the best, but they aren’t necessary to achieve great results.
And here’s something else: nobody knows about this yet. You’re about to discover an AI and ChatGPT productivity hack that’s flying completely under the radar… until now. Welcome to Run The Prompts.

Save HOURS Creating Presentation Slide Decks with AI
A quick warning though: This approach works best when you already have a clear idea of your content. If your slides involve complex ideas you’re still figuring out, this method might not be ideal. However, for straightforward presentations, this will significantly speed up the process.
Also, think outside the box. This process involves recording your audio and running the transcript through an AI such as ChatGPT. You do not need to use a transcript. Use unorganized typed-out notes, upload handwritten notes (and have the AI read them), or even a giant email of information. You get the idea. Any written source of information can be turned into an awesome slide deck simply by using this process I developed.
Steal This Simple PowerPoint Creation Process Using AI
You might glance at this and think, “Well, this seems more complicated than I thought it would be. No thanks.” Don’t think like that. Don’t make me hit you. You’re doing yourself a disservice. This is much faster than it looks, and as always, I’m here to hold your hand through all of it while you tremble in fear.
- Use an AI-enabled Recording Tool:
Use the Superwhisper app (there is a free version) or create a solo Zoom meeting and select the “AI recording” feature (if you have a paid Zoom plan). If you don’t have a paid Zoom plan, you can add the Fathom extension to Zoom for free. Lastly, if you’re feeling daring, you can use the voice-to-text feature directly in ChatGPT by clicking on the microphone icon and recording yourself. - Record Your Thoughts:
Start recording and explain all the content you want included in your slide deck. No organization is required. Just talk freely. Take your time. Even filler words like “umm,” “uh,” etc., are totally fine. Let the AI clean it up for you. The default recording settings in either app will work just fine. - End Recording and Retrieve Transcript:
Stop recording and send the polished AI transcript to your email. - Use AI to Structure Your Slides:
Paste your transcript at the end of the prompt in step #5 below into ChatGPT, Claude, Venice.AI, or any powerful AI platform you prefer. I used ChatGPT 4.5 for this process, and it worked amazingly. - Add This Prompt, Fill In The Boxes, and Add Your Transcript Below It:
Act as an expert in [enter field or specialization you are working in]. I need to transform a verbose transcript into a concise, visually-oriented PowerPoint deck. Below is the raw transcript text about [enter topic and short description of the recording]. Analyze this content and:
1. Identify the key points that need to be communicated.
2. Structure these into slides with:
* Clear numbered slide titles (Max 8 words)
* 3-4 bullet points per slide (Phrase fragments, no complete sentences)
* Bolded key terms/metrics
* Logical and consistent flow for each slide (for example): Context -> Analysis -> Recommendations. After selecting the flow for slides, use the SAME flow consistently for every slide.
3. Include Visual Suggestions as Needed:
* Data points → Suggest chart suggestions [Bar/Pie/Line]
* Processes → Suggest simple flow diagrams
* Comparisons → Recommend matrix/table formats
4. Flag technical jargon (Create optional glossary slide if >3 complex terms that the audience might not understand)
5. Include:
* Opening title slide template
* Section divider slides
* Closing summary/Call-to-Action slide
Prioritize information hierarchy over completeness. Replace paragraphs with telegraphic slide content optimized for 10s audience digestion per slide.

- Generate a PowerPoint File with ChatGPT:
After step #5 is done, generate an initial draft of your PowerPoint file in seconds with this prompt. It won’t be perfect, but it will be an awesome starting point. Here is the prompt: “Now, use this information to create a PowerPoint slide file for me.” If you use Google Slides, you can easily import the PowerPoint file into it. - Generate Visuals (If Needed):
Use Napkin.AI to quickly create visuals if necessary. Napkin is an under-the-radar AI tool that will help you create charts, graphs, icons, and graphics for PDFs, landing pages, slide deck presentations, and anything else.
Wrapping it up
This ChatGPT-powered approach will dramatically streamline your slide deck creation. Say goodbye to wasted hours and hello to AI efficiency. Congratulations! Now you have more time to stare at yourself in the mirror.
